Marking the 30th anniversary of the film “The Name of the Rose” based on the book by Umberto Eco. Our guest speak, M. Gérald Morin covered various film related themes in his presentation .

Lindsay McTeague presented the book about her mother, Sheena Duncan, who dedicated her life to struggle for a non-sexist, just and democratic South Africa. Through her own words and the words of others this account of Sheena Duncan’s life reveals the extent of her influence in the quest for justice and peace in South Africa. The book was Written by the author Annemarie Hendrikz with an the introduction by Desmond Tutu.
Dr Vivien Newman presented her previous book to the Book Club in March 2015. Entitled “The Forgotten Women in the First World War” it was an excellent talk based on her fascinating research. On Wednesday, the 24th February Dr Vivien Newman joined us again to share more stories related to her research on Women serving at the front during the First World War.
Michelle Bailat-Jones , a young writer and poet, presented her recently published book, Fog Island Mountains. Her presentation was engaging and well received by all.
